Oliver Rose Jr began his professional career as a network administrator at Albert Garaudy and Associates in Metairie, LA after completing a Bachelor of Computer Science degree at Xavier University of Louisiana in 2004. After Hurricane Katrina, he uprooted from his hometown of New Orleans, LA and moved to Portland, OR where he has been an accomplished software engineer and technical lead at Bonneville Power Administration over the last 17+ years. His experience includes software development, website design, leading individuals toward outlined goals and targeted milestones, development of standards, software analysis and testing, project management, AGILE/SRUM, and troubleshooting and debugging complex software issues.
Oliver began volunteering as a coach and mentor in BB2S in its earlier years, beginning in 2008. He received coaching training from ORTOP, through BB2S, to assist in preparing kids for numerous projects and competition tournaments over the years within the Portland metro area and surrounding areas. In 2013, Oliver assisted in starting a Lego Robotics after school program for International Leadership Academy in Lake Oswego, where his daughter attended French immersion school. He returned to BB2S in 2015 to continue coaching and mentoring. Currently, he is a mentor for the St Mary’s Academy High School Robotics team, which is the only all girl robotics team in the United States.
In 2018, OIiver received his Project Management Professional (PMP) in March and became a Certified SCRUM Master (CSM) in 2018. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated. He is a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan. He loves cooking, coding and physical fitness. He is married with two children and his mini labradoodle, Louie.
